This painting belongs to a series of 5 paintings with culture and identity being the main influences. I have painted this series on 2014-2015. It portrays the struggle I faced as an Iranian woman, living in a Western society, trying to break free and shed the complex cultural bonds. It is special to me, as it is about me and it was an opportunity to learn more about myself. The pattern of the scarf, comes from the Tomb of Iranian poet Hafez.
