Although my art work may appear photographic, I do not consider myself a photo-realist. Most of my works have a strong narrative thread that is at odds with photorealism. Also most of the photorealists tend to avoid any emotional content in their images, the viewer’s response is therefore restricted to an appreciation of the technical ability of the artist in producing an image, usually in a very large scale, that rivals a photograph in capturing realistic detail. I believe that art should be so much more than this. I use my realism to convey not only a narrative and a theme, but also to elicit an emotional response in the viewer.
